I'm pretty sure that engine was from the guy on the other board who had it in the street bike frame user name "lt1bird". I think that was his ebay name too. He never could get it to run right and wouldn't listen to people's advice and then I think he ended up drilling a hole through the slide on the carb and doing a bunch of other strange stuff in the jetting department. I think he had a 78 pilot in it.
I saw that e-bay ad. too after all that screwing around he sold it saying it had too much power for his application.
I'm sure it never ran right, what an idiot.

Ya thats the guy, asked the same questions over and over but never took anyones advice, his bike sounded fine in the video he posted but he insisted it had a stutter just off idle or something
Buy it all from HPD, and put it together yourself....
I bet its less than $2600, with our discount.
New cases, bearings, tranny, crank, jug / piston, head, covers, etc..etc..
Simply put before I would dump $2600 + shipping on shiny covers, a bead blasted case/cylinder, a few spare parts and the promise of a perfect engine I would reach out for better more guaranteed resolution. I was under the impression that the 500 engine cases were no longer available, so I assumed AJ and a create motor was the best option when wanting 100% new.

I can see the reason why it didn't run right, it's got one of stupid cool heads. It was discussed long ago about how most of those are made poorly and none of them seal right. Plus if he is running a high compression dome, he is an idiot because if you look at that cylinder, it isn't even ported. It looks cool and clean, although it isn't polished, but I can see why someone bought it for big bucks.

That's the first one I've seen and was wondering about it. Does seem like a cool idea to be able to change the dome. If you had a piston frag, just replace the dome instead of the entire head. But if there are sealing issues, I wouldn't want anything to do with it.

I'm sure HPD would work us and added discount, beyond our 6%
Total: $2,995.11
Thats really good!
I looked through that list and found that there's 2 pistons and 3 sets of rings
-33.48 rings
-33.48 rings
-99.04 piston
-179.70 for a 6% discount
So the total after knocking off the extra piston and rings and figuring a straight 6% discount it would be:
$2649.41
The only advantage I see in buying one from SH is that you could get it already assembled. I know most hoons here would probably opt for some beers and night in the garage anyways.
$2650 for a new in every way 0 hour CR500 motor. Why in the world would you pay $2600 plus shipping for someone's used crap with dremel cut and drill bit special type mod job on the carb.
Not to mention that picture of the wrist pin that Bob posted and who know what else is going on with that motor. I'm sure its got more than 2hrs on it.

I told that guy he was retarded. He kept with the same stuff and even my bike stutters a little after I start it and make one lap around the yard. Stoooge
