2007 crf450 conversion started ! advise welsome

Post by trgracing »

hi, finally started the conversion, stripped my crf frame, and fitted the core cr500 motor, havent cut the y out yet, { just had a look } anyway, i noticed the rear shock spring, { when bike on stand } has the smallest clearance,, when off stand and compress suspension, clearance gets good... any body have a solution? have noticed some people on crf250x have given their cases a shave... and ideas or comment please, will be posting pictures all the way..... by the way mine is 450x is that a diff with suspension tie rods

My 03 does not hit with a stock spring and looks like plenty of clearance to go to a little larger spring. Check Bob's build, he had to notch his cases for his big boy spring.

It's pretty common having to relieve the cases for shock spring clearance in conversions.
