B-52 certified to fly synthetic fuel blend.

Post by iggys-amsoil »

Secretary of the U.S. Air Force Michael Wynne on Aug. 8 at Edwards Air Force Base, Calif., announced the completion of the Air Force's certification of Fischer-Tropsch fuel blends for the B-52H. Fischer-Tropsch is a process, named after its two inventors, for creating synthetic fuel. Wynne signed a certificate stating that a blend of Fischer-Tropsch and standard jet fuel is safe for operational use in all B-52H aircraft. Boeing supported the tests to certify the B-52 at the Oklahoma City Air Logistic Center, Tinker Air Force Base, Okla. Boeing's B-52 programs are based at its Wichita, Kan., facility.
