After putting it off for a month, I finally made time to weld in the new cradle.
I laced up the new rims a long time ago. I couldn't wait any longer to see how the tires look, I just had to mount them up.
Ahhhhhh, how I love new parts.

Got 3 of the motor mounts whittled out today. In the time it takes to chop the factory mounts out of the old cradle, I figured I could make new ones. Only 1 to go....hopefully I can weld them in this weekend.
Made my swing arm spacers/bolt-to-case bushings also.
Mike is boring my cylinder this week, then the crank will be off to SNT for balancing. I hope to have the frame prepped for the engine while the machine work is being done.
My plan is to have a roller by the time the crank comes back...or at least that's the plan as of now.
I haven't seen it done this way, but it's my way.
Anyway, here's pics of this week's progress.

Yep.
After many years of saving up for the equipment that I desperately wanted, I have a good collection for what I need.
The Bridgeport mill is really old (and rugged) and is the latest addition to my shop. It's also my favorite machine to use.
Don't get the wrong idea. At one time all I had to work with was grinders, saws and hand drills, and I was SOL when it came to welding. I've just graduated up from that.
It's also awkward because this is the first time I've attempted aluminum welding.
So far, so good.
Thanks for the interest.
You have a 500? I saw the vid of your XR.
