M.F.D.B. wrote:Ask the cart guys. They run silicone main seals. Also, Alcohol is very "dry" and requires more oil to make up for that. Gas is much more "lubricitive"...

The cart guys I know of run 20:1 and the r/c motors run even more (castor)...
For my kart stuff with the CR500 I don't run alky... just C12 mixed 32:1 with green label blendzall. I don't know anybody running alky either. Where could someone pick up silicone main seals in the right size?

They are available in the common cart motors like the Rotax but like Danny said, when we tried to source them, they wanted huge order minimums...

I wanted them so I could convert to E85...

britincali wrote:IMO the "lubricity" of gas has nothing to do with it, run a two stroke on straight gas and Ill guarantee it lasts about the same as on on straight alky.

I still want an explanation why double the fuel does not equal double the oil ending up in the motor.

Think about it not as more fuel but the same amount of fuel only a whole lot faster. :)

theres an e85 station right by my house and its like $3.70 and rated at 105 octane  I might try running it and just keep spare seals  the difference in fuel cost alone would be worth replacing my seals every few months.

True, as long as you replace them faster then the top end burns up. But dont forget that even at only 85% whisky, you prolly will still need an Alky carb...

this bike sounds like it's going to be a hand full. What are you trying to beat, all the alky quads with drag frames that race the dunes? I wish you luck in that.

take the airbox off and see if the slide is going all the way down and up. maybe you need to modify the spring or throttle handle or get different cable. thats probly why the motor was revving high
