Road Worthy Decision Troubles

Post by Travis »

I have an 89 500 and a 97 xr 400. I would like to make one road worthy enough to ride back an forth to work. I live outta town and can run back roads almost all the way in. I was trying to decide which to make my road bike and am having trouble. Any thoughts on the subject? The Xr needs a topend rebuild but can stop at the gas station and fillup, has a kickstand, and is already wired for lights. The CR on the other hand needs lights and a kickstand but needs nothing more than that. Either one will need a streetable set of tires. I also would hate to lose the dirt capability of either one. But the SuperMoto look is awesome and the CR is waymore fun to ride, on the road or the dirt. Help me out guys!!!

How much do those wheels and tires cost though? I want to ride one of the bikes to save a little dough. I am afraid the swap may cost more than I save. Oh yeah, does anyone know what kind of mileage either one may get? I have no odometer for either.
