Diesel built trans?

Post by dannygraves »

Any of you guys have any experience with any built auto trannys for diesels?
Andy (hoofarted) has been hunting around and this guy seems like his best bet, and still cheaper than a BD built trans.. http://jwtt.com/

what do you guys think, anyone have any experience with this guy?

ford or chevy or dodge.

Ford i would make the drive to holtville out by glamis and have john woods do it right. Chevy im thinking BTS or Suncoast. Dodge im not to familiar with.

I had a built Goerend trans and welded the overdrive unit in two days- he was good about it and paid for new parts, but we never got it to work well.
I now have a Goerend billet converter and billet input/ output shafts, Suncoast clutches and valve body.
Mine will hold 500 h.p nooooooooo problem

oh yeah... 06 Dodge w/ Cummins...

Take it to john woods.. Hands down one of the best ford tranny guys in the country.. :D I used to go wheelin with him out in the desert when i lived down there.. Some of the stuff he builds will impress you. Twin Turbo 7.3 roasting all 4 tires is mighty impressive :P Not to mention they were 37's :P

My brothers 7.3 had some work done by john and it has been great to him.. Im actualllly thinking about buying it off my little brother if the wife will let me. :D

Thanks! I talked to John yesterday for a good half hour - answered all my questions - was very helpful! Really seems to know his chit. Now I just need to amass 4k to get my trans done.

he isnt the cheapest but you get what you pay for... :D My brother is saving up the 4k to get his trans built as well.. John did a injector service and flush and overhaul on his motor.. made a big diffrence in performance.. John has been wanting to buy my brothers truck off of him for a while... Its been a pretty damn bullet proof setup even with me and my brother and the old owner beating the snot out of it. Lets put it this way.. 7.3's on a 6" lift with 35's werent meant to go drifting :P Im glad my brother trusts me hehehe... However his buddy in the back seat at the time didnt. We got to the bar and took off to get food and his buddy wouldnt even get back in the truck with me.. Thought i was gonna kill him or something. Little did he know that i drove that road everyday for 3 years lol.. 8k lb trucks fly pretty nice too.. hehe

Went to see John Wood in Holtville on Saturday. All went well, I was there all damn day - as I thought I would be. Super knowledgeble dude! Really knows his shit! Efiin hot as hell and humid down there! Too bad it was off season as Glamis is only 20 mins away! Did a great job - truck drives like a dream now! Upgraded the trans cooler to to the 6.0 model. Didnt break 180 in that 102+ degree heat on the way back. OH! his 15 year old son removed my trans! Very capable little dude! His son, Travis Wood races MX and may get into open class later. Pops wants to build an 500 AF. Turned him on to this site for info... ;) Oh ya, and the $2.12 mexi diesel down there is an added benefit....So for anyone needing any Ford trans done, John is your go to guy!
