back to the desert madness

Post by rabbit »

Yes it's time. Time to plan that trip back to the desert. PIck a date Sep 28/29/30, Oct 5/6/7 and or 12/13/14. Going to Ocotillo Wells. Planning on some very fast open desert riding, Some tight techincal trails (remember the stacks 8-) 84cr lover, 2fast4u, Maddog, this year we do it in reverse and add some more bad land trail to the mix ::))

This is a trip for guys who like to ride and want to ride hard. Ocotillo has a lot of varing terrain. So get off your butts and step up. chriss you had nbetter get you ass down here or I'm going to piss on the British flag after consuming cheep millwuakee beer whille singing Yankee doodle Dandy.

Well Kennedy meadows is alongshot for me

No don't pull dove springs, two many guys headed out there and that is shaping up to be a good trip. How about Oct 12-13-14? I know your hitting Glamis the next weekend but will it still work? I'm hoping Bob, Chris and the rest can make it to Ocotillo so I hoping they chime in and the dates work for them.

As I stated on the other site, the bike is running and I can get out there on the 12th for a day trip if that is when it's happening. Let me know.

Algava, OCW is knobbie all the way. There is some loose sand but it's more hard pack and rock. Make sure the air pressure is up or a flat is going to happen and even a bent rim.

...not to mention just some of the best riding anywhere in SoCal - IMO. ;)

Like FPMX said, knobbie. 12 psi min, 14 is better. some sand but a lot of high speed stuff. I know a lot of trails with some pretty demanding technical riding so it will be a good mix.

okay we are getting close

The wife will be at Chemo and the little one will be with the outlaws and I have been ordered to go out and play.

Going to Camp on County Line road just north of Highway 78. about 100 yards past north of the dumpsters just off of the dirt road. I will post a map and overhead later. Chime in fellas, who is still in?

From east bound 78 take County line road north. the dumpsters will be on the right about 100 to 200 yards north of 78. About 200 yards north of that is a flat area at the base of a small hill. I will be arriving by at least 3 am on fri eve/ sat morning. hopefully earlier on fri evening. If any one is going out friday night email me at RGIBSOSH@sdsheriff.org and I will make sure you have my cell number. so we can hook up.

My rv is a white over blue 31 class c towing a an 16' enclosed white trailer. The trailer will have the number 276 and CR500 riders on the door.

Here is a map/ directions from downtown Ramona.
http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=ramon ... 224%2C-116. 167309

To avoid the mtn / banner grade take 79 north from 78 at Santa ysabel, turn east on S2 from 79. follow S2 east till it rejoins 78. Much easier drive and quicker. If you cross the bridge and go past the the blue inn you have gone to far. Not sure how much of the family is going to be there so I may some extra room if anyone needs it.

Temps should be in the mid 80's to mid 90's, dress appropriately. There is outhouse nearby for rough campers. AB, Brit It would be cool if you guys coud make it. I'm not sure how many of these I will make this for obvious reasons.
