Hey all, from Texas...
I'm another victim from the other site.
I didn't realize I was breaking the law (and stepping on toes-or whatever else) 'till I took a close look at the rules. My machine is not in running condition, so I politely stepped away and came over to the wilder side.
I can't believe how crazy and obnoxious some of the members are here, but combining that attitude w/a friendly rivalry makes for one bad-ass site.
I live close to San Antonio but I'm far enough away to be out in the sticks. A couple of miles down the highway in any direction leads to countless miles of back-country roads. I own and operate an automotive repair shop, prefer modding older muscle cars, but working on people's daily beaters (and cow shit-plastered farm trucks) is what pays the bills.
I have an old XL600 that I built up a few years ago, a semi-motard/street/desert bike. I did all of my own machining, powder coating, modding, etc...Good thing for the street beater now, so I can save on out-the-assed gas prices. I should have done a few things different on the 600, but I learned a lot...I like it as it is...and I know what not to do for my 500AF-1. I found out how shitty Excell wheels are and the precision of Suns.
My project machine is an 01 CR125 that I purchased for $500 (no shit...). The kid lost the triangle, so he threw in the aluminum crate to sweeten the deal.
I have an 86 500 engine that I'm using for mock-up. I have (had???) a complete 87 engine in shipment until it got lost in the UPS terminal in San Antonio (how do you loose a freakin engine?). I guess it fell between the conveyors or....someone x-rayed it, saw what it was and took it home.
Anyway...I've been visiting here for a while and finally decided to make it official. I hope to get help when (if) I need it and plan on helping others when I can.
Glad to be here,
Gene.

Just a cool pic in my aircraft collection.
The P38 is the Cadillac and the P51 is the hot rod, my 2 favorite.
Were you stationed on a destroyer???
It's the first time UPS lost something of mine.
A rep called today and said they will be checking the lost & found.
Thanks for the warm welcoming everyone.
Looks like I found a new 2nd home....

Yes I was aboard a Guided Missile Destroyer. It is the one in my avatar being refueled at sea.Wheelie-Gene wrote:Just a cool pic in my aircraft collection.

I believe there are a couple of P51 fans on here.
