So I'm helping a friend tonight, says his bike dosent idle too well, and "runs rich" WFO....
So I go over there... look at the bike for a few minutes... and notice the carb "top" is way crossthreaded.... looks like its barely on there...
I explain to him this is bad for a few reasons....
1. Dirt is entering his engine.
2. So is unmetered air ( poor idle)
3. Since the carb top is 1/4" higher than it should be, the needle is being pulled higher by the same amount. This is making it rich @ WFO..not good.
4. MOST IMPORTANTLY! If the needle gets pulled so high that it pops out of its bore, your never going to get that slide down. It may be the last mistake you ever make. CR500's running WFO uncontrollably can do some real damage to you, and anything in your path.
It took 1 motion of my wrist to get it off ( 1/4 turn or so)
It took 8 motions to get it back on correctly...
BE safe out there fella's.. .dont be afraid to have a buddy look over your bike, in case you missed something...
Carb Woes....
