I think I'd kill myself if I were that guy!!! Holy crap, that bottle says to add to the engine coolant all over it. I used that stuff in my old chevy to keep it going with a crack in the rad tank. I NEVER add ANYTHING to my oil...

I see this completely different.
Is it a dumb thing? Yes.
Have have I ever done a dumb thing? Oh yea, far more than most people will ever know.

Here's how I see it.
1. The guy had the fortitude to try and fix something himself.
2. He failed miserably but was willing to share it.
3. Now he's going to get to learn how to rebuild an engine. (Motors are electric)
4. He'll probably make lots of mistakes on the rebuild too but when he's all done he'll know how to do it correctly the next time or at least understand why some one want so much money to do it.
5. I give him credit for having the stones to stay in there and take the heat and keep coming back.
6. As long as he stays in there and sees to it to the end, he wins the battle, a running engine.
7. If he does this, he will grow and gain strength from it and has a bright future.
8. This will be just another lesson in the school of hard knocks.
9. Education costs money, it just gets paid out in different ways.
10. If he quits, then he's just another loser moron.

No I have never put Bars Leak or anything equivalent into a crankcase.

I know a guy that did that. When he was a kid he picked up his dads revolver and shot himelf in the back, and he lived. Later in his teens, he got shot in the leg by a 22 during a drug deal. Then when he was in his 20's he broke into his dads house (his dad was a San Bernadino Sheriff), two cops came to the house and fired 7 bullets in him, he lived. We called him crazy Johny for a reason.

I had a buddy at college who claimed when younger he had found something metal embedded in his garden wall. Curious, he hit it with a hammer. It was the back end of a live round that then went off. The bullet stayed in the wall, but cartridge came out backwards, deflected of his knuckle and hit him the head. He lived. True or not, definitely retarded.
