Ya, infact MFDB has to hook up on the dyno at racers edge, but I like the idea of a day with a bunch of hoons swapping parts, jets, cdis and jugs seeing what kind of numbers we could come up with.Slow old Fart wrote:don't you have one in your neck of the woods?dannygraves wrote:damn it! why are you so far away?! shit, who really wants to...I used to have the powerbug, but now I'm getting ready to detune mine, its geting uncontrollable... definitly no truck sized flat spot here!
I hate to say but the slow old son of a bitch is right about the flat spot...honda did that with the CDI, not port timing, not pipe. A cr250 cdi removed the flat spot which in turn renderes the bike almost uncontrolable, but fun as fuck if you can hang on. This is also why I wrecked my last 3 rides out, before that I was running the 500 cdi with is nice a freindly mellow stock tune.

100hp hondabut shouldn't your screen name be 89.07hp honda? I'm just playing man....
And by the way are sure you want to be part of the shuttle program? I call that thing Killer if you know what I mean.
If you tell people you work on the shuttle they may be scared to ride one of your bikes because it may come apart in flight.![]()
Give me a old Saturn V, hey Bob what was the greatest machine man ever made?![]()
They were especting to loose about 1 orbiter in 50 so it has about the right track record for the design.
Yeah I do! and I'm proud of it! I work on a bunch of DOD stuff as well for our military so they can protect our freedom so guy's like you can have an opinion!
I suppose you can fly a Saturn V too!

It's actually a waist of time to dyno all the small changes they do not really add to much in what you see but can make the feel of the bike alot diffrerent by seat of the pants. The best thing to do is just test with seat of the pants and build the power you like.dannygraves wrote:since I have both setups and a pile of pipes and carbs, I really want a day at the dyno to try every configuration.
I believe in a dyno test for serious mods so you can see a big difference.
The best easiest power to ride to where like you can wheelie forever i believe is just a real light port job buy someone who knows how to adjust transfer to create better fuel flow on a stock motor with the stock 38mm carb.

well, that IS what I've been doing... I was talking about numbers... a lot of the changes were pretty big, like different cut heads, different jugs (with different porting) and completely different carbs (mikuni 41 pro w/ powerjet vs pwk 39.5), DeWayne modified FMF, FMF Gnarly, PC, etc.Slow old Fart wrote:It's actually a waist of time to dyno all the small changes they do not really add to much in what you see but can make the feel of the bike alot diffrerent by seat of the pants. BTW, both of the carbs I mentioned outperform the stock carb from idle-full throttle...there is no doubt in my mind.

if you have an '86 500 stator and flywheel, then you can just use a '86-'88 250 cdi (which is what I did), otherwise you have the get the stator plate and coils, flywheel and CDI from about any year 250. '92-'96 seems to be desireable because of the ability to add an 80watt lighting coil. the '97+ will fit, but those are digital and have a form of traction control.
