Pro Circuit pipe by Service honda
I have found a guy who has a PC pipe done by SH. He has also got a regular PC. I have an FMF on my 99 AFC right now. I have modified the rear mount in the pic below. Will I be able to use the one done by SH or should I stick with the regular PC pipe. Sorry about all of the abbreviations.

Nothing I suppose I have just always run the PC and I like the looks of them better. Do you have a recommendation one way or the other? I have heard the FMF are built a little stronger. What do you think, is it not worth the hassle of swapping?

I only run ProCircuit pipes! Go to the approved vendor section read both "teem trubble motorsports" and the "Pro Circuit" threads then go to the "Politics and activisim" section and read "a short little story" I'm sure you'll call me!

If you like a nice bottom end hit, go with the FMF Gnarly. If you want to mellow it out some, go with the PC.
My
I could not agree with you more

I'll go ahead and disagree with that. A stock pipe, and especially the silencer are junk. The first thing that goes into the trash when you buy a bike should be the stock exhaust. As far as the fmf vs. pc debate, it's simple. A fmf is well known to be heavier, and stronger, and be good for low end power(something a cr500 doesn't need). And a Pc is known to be the pipe of choice for more top end and overrev(the aspect a cr500 lacks). Other than custom made, the only choice as far as I'm concerned is a PC period.

Thats a real interesting statment because the stock Honda pipe holds up better than any pipe I have used and makes great midrange power and the silencer is quiet and smooth as hell.Ported&Polished wrote:I'll go ahead and disagree with that. And a stock CR 500 has a hole in the bottom end you can drive a truck through in the responce department. A good running KDX 200 will stomp it in bottom end responce.
I'll go ahead and say that you're wrong if you think that a stock pipe with a PC silencer doesn't perform. I'll correct myself and say that I'd still take the FMF Gnarly over it but the stock/PC set up does work well.Ported&Polished wrote:I'll go ahead and disagree with that. I didn't suggest that the stock silencer was the route to go, it isn't, so on that point we agree.

I run all PC pipes. I do run FMF turbine core2 silencers. FMF was my vote, until I've seen where they have gone the last two years...BRO VILLE. I'm sure if you walk into FMF, with a flatbill, and a couple of tattoos on your neck, you'll get a nice discount.
PC has been about racers for a long time, they still are. Look at the products they make compared to FMF. The Flying Machine Factory of Emler days are gone.

You do not have a clue what you are talking about, even the dyno shows the holes in the CR 5 power band. all in the middle with little on top or the bottom.Ported&Polished wrote:He he he, rubbish.Slow old Fart wrote:

A good running KDX 200 will stomp it in bottom end responce.I have drag raced many different machines with a stock cr500 minus the pipe, and the only hole is the one created by the back tire when first gear is used. To that I suggest starting off in second gear, which will result in a smaller hole and a bigger lead in the race at a sooner time. I have read most of your "observations" here, and I can only conclude that your sir are a bullshit artist.
I will gaurantee you one of the 500 I build will eat your crap alive and the pipes from pro circuit ,FMF are not the answer for power. Bigger carb ,porting and more compression along with head work are with race gas also along with a special built pipe if you are going for alot more peak power in the upper RPM range.

I can't see you being able to guarantee anything. It's not clear that you even own a motorcycle, let alone plan to build one that will "eat" anything I own. As for porting, race gas, bigger carb etc., been there done that. As I said before, your "observations" are bullshit. It would be nice if this board had one of those "ignore" buttons so that folks wanting to could rid themselves of having to suffer through seeing any of your posts.

Go read a dyno if you can understand it on a Cr5 and it tells the story. The bike makes good power but it is all in the middle. None of the pipes I have used do much in the way of making much more power. They are all designed for stock port timimg.Ported&Polished wrote:I can't see you being able to guarantee anything. They either shift the band up a little or down a little.
