GEN 3 CR 125...WHICH MOTOR?

Post by husky24tn »

I HAVE A COMPLETE CR 125 2003

and today i had a friend give me one of his backup frames....its also a 2003 cr 125

so i have a donor frame now and i'm looking for a good engine

i would like one of the toned down late 90's models if anyone knows where a good deal is

i'm seriously wanting to do this frame into a 500 a/f

frame i got today

PS.....i have read alot of you guys builds and all of you do great work......

what kind of kits are available now?.....

thanks in advance for any info....

Any particular reason for the 125 frame? If it just fell in your lap and you want to do a conversion I would pick something easier.

That's a pretty good reason.
The motors are basically the same, and even a 01 is seven years old now and should be completely gone through.
I would just find one that's in good shape and go from there.

'93 was the tranny change, '94 is when the cases went to a bare color instead of black. I prefer the bare cast color.

for MX te close ratio would be better. '88 and '89 were nasty SOBs, so I say look for a '90-'92

yeah...my dad had an old 89 and it was a beast...

i'd like a little more mellow hit .....i am only 145 lbs...but i do ride the local "A" class also....

i love the idea of a good 500 motor in that frame i have....i can't wait to find a motor and get it started
