whats the difference? 88-89 gasket sets

Post by dahondaboy »

Whats the difference? between 88 and 89 gasket sets? All I need is the case gaskets and I can pay 50.00 for a 88 or 29.00 for an 89 set? I dont need the o rings or water pump gaskets just the middle so I can put my crank back in, will they work on both years of cases? thanks.

I actually use a '89+ headgasket on my '86 to bump up my compression, its a .040 difference.

i reuse use a copper one, roughen with sandpaper, coat with gasket maker and let dry, never had any seepage or leaking yet, sometimes i cut my own gaskets fron gasket paper, they hold up pretty good too. if you use the black plastic coated stuff. napa has it in many thicknesses
