At Tracy's, AJ is making a tremendous effort to get the guy with the streetbike a system that will work for his application.

You have to applaud AJ on that.
It's gotta help everyone in this situation.

Very helpful guy willing to stand behind his product. Potentially poor quality from Electrosport. Probably poor "fit for purpose" in certain situations; mine being one.
Frankly the falling down is with Service Honda sales people who don't ask enough question before "taking the order". If I had known the characteristics of the ignition I would have passed over the Electrosport one for stock. Que sera.

I agree that AJ is doing alot for this fella and is standing behind what SH sells, but isn't a CR500 engine a CR500 engine? What difference does it make what type of chassis it is in?

The kicker and right peg placement limit cranking ability.
If the system can be made to work on this bike, it should work on anything.

Someone once posted that the difference in flywheel weight between S/H and OEM was 3 oz?
Its a little more.
i'm going to tinker with this a little more, and see where it ends up..

Weight alone means very little, it's where you put it. The SH one has much more outboard which will produce more effect then one shaped like the OEM but weighting the same as the SH unit.

Heard a story today from a parts distributor rep at my local shop. His buddy has a CR500AFX and had starting problems with the ignition. Because they are local, he visited Electrosport in Oceanside, CA and they played around with the ignition and got it to fire up first kick. Unfortunately the unit crapped out after 3 months. He is now waiting for a stock ignition to put on the bike so he can sell it.

Anything that turns off folks to CR500's, 2 stokes, or dirt bikes in general is bad news for all of us!!

The good news is that the stock ignition is back on my bike and sparking brightly with just one kick. Will start and warm it up tomorrow, then it's off to Adelanto...

I am going to speak with the people at Electrosport and if no luck there, I will be asking AJ to trade Electrosport for new OEM...
...and yes again thank you Jay!

X2 Every bike I've ever had has been a basket case for some reason or other, if the stock ignition fixes it, I don't see his reason to sell.

He bought a CRF450R after getting beaten consistently by his buddy. I can't disagree with that but just get both .

The real reason to own a 500 is if you are a cow. A 450 does not have the torque to pull sow people.
