Service Honda Bikes

Post by AlisoBob »

WE have like 9 completions, and 5 underway, and a few moving closer to starting.....

Meanwhile, Rjerks cant give his jen-u-wine S/H 500 away...

Think the two are related?

I'm am really impressed by the quality, innovation, and varing degrees of builder experience all delivering solid bikes that match, and usually exceed what S/H is doing.

GREAT JOB HOONS!!!!!

Well $7200 is alot of dough for a used bike. And his is an '02 frame with a engine that was rebuilt, so not sure what year the engine is.
Too much of a puss for a 500!

Damn Bob, did AJ sleep with your wife or something? Where does this horse shit come from?

So Randy can't sell his bike and it's a SH conversion, who gives a shit? I just about had to give away a prestine 450 with the market being what it is and the fact that we are, as a group, a bunch of cheap asses.

I guess your hard-on towards AJ and cr500riders.com were the reasons for this site, and my hat's off to you as a lot of good has been done here, but give it a fucking break already with the anti-AJ shit.

I totally agree with the last part of your original post, what people are doing on their own is incredible and the fact that it's shared freely is very much appreciated. However, the Service Honda shit is totally unwarranted and uncalled for IMO.

Whats so "Anti-AJ" about folks building their own bikes because they cant afford a S/H, or simply dont like the way their put together???

I'm only stating the fact that at one time when S/H was the only game in town... even used bikes commanded a premium.

Rjacks thinking that a 6 year old bike is worth $8k is nuts..

People now have the option to do anything they like, including building their own on a limited budget and with basic mechanical skills... and stil lhave a quality piece.

I dont think thats such a bad thing..

:headbang:

I was looking at another S/H AFX yesterday...

1. Wont start with the "Improved Ignition" installed.

2. Wiring harness wore through due to poor routing.

3. Silencer still being installed "crossed up".

Other little odd's and ends not what you would expect to see on a bike of that caliber.

I take great pride knowing that many Hoons now own a CR500A/F, as a result from direct contact with the members on this site..... and probably wouldnt have any other way.

Bob,

I have never said that it's anti-AJ to build your own bike. If you look through my posts you'll see that I honestly praise those that do so on their own. Their talent constantly amazes me. So, to that end, you've missed my point.

If you only meant to show that Randy is nuts for asking $8K for his bike, why title the thread "Service Honda Bikes"? How about, "Randy is fuckin' nuts!!!!", since that's your opinion.

I can only speak of my own experiences and, to me, AJ has gone way, way out of his way to do things for me and his work has been first class. No problems at all with fit or finish. This after hearing others bash his welds, bash his work, hell, even bash his typing. It's all been done to death and it's tired horse shit.

But, hey, it's your site Bob so, if it makes you feel better about yourself to put down others, more power to you.

I'll continue to respect those that keep 500's alive, yourself included, and have the balls to convert these things for love, profit or both.

How is it a "put down" to question someones work, when you have tangable facts to back it up?

If I paid $11k for a AFX, and received what I have seen delivered to others... I'd be pissed. Plain and simple.

If your impressed with the work, obviously we have different levels of acceptance.

I've said in many times before, AJ needs to turn a profit..just like anyone else.

I realize there are limitations to how much time he can spend on any one bike.

I get the fact that at his current production levels, he is no longer doing it all by himself, and relies on others.

BUT, all that does not excuse him from turning out what he should be.

You go out of your way to talk shit Bob. I mean, I don't mind someone pointing out negatives in the course of conversation but you make a point of it. Everything goes back to your boner with SH and/or AJ.

You're consistent Bob, I'll give you that.

Regardless of all this bullshit, your bike looks incredible and mine looks absolutely nothing like what you posted as a supposed SH bike.

Yeah, but AJ's bikes come with a pipe, brake pedal and a bolt for the kicker. What did you do, let Brit tighten that shit up for you?

And you can be a dick, sometimes, Bob.

with my build i have found a few ways to do stuff that i can't figure out why AJ doesn't do it. it actually takes longer to do it the way he does it. for example, i found a way to use an "off the shelf" silencer without it looking odd, looks more like a 2 stroke would than a modified 4 stroke.
i have to say that its nice that they have a parts listing online for their bikes. without that i would end up buying alot of parts to find it doesn't work/fit.

the quality of work, from what i have seen, has improved since the pic above, or maybe it varies from bike to bike. if thats the case, then not enough time is being spent to keep the quality at a consistent level.

the fact that Rjacks thinks he gonna sell his bike for $7200 quickly in a niche market is laughable. there has been a 2003 af on service honda's website for quite a while for $5900 that hasn't sold. yes his has a lot of extras, but any dirtbike for that much is gonna take a while to sell. not to mention that not many people want a 500af, and half of those people will probably build it themselfs.

I've also been under the impression Bob, that you have a corn cob stuck up your ass that reads, "Service Honda". But hey...I don't care. It's entertaining.

The bikes everybody has been building here are awesome. :woot:

Many of them match S/H pound for pound. Teemtrouble...I think your bikes are the finest I've seen.

I own an '03 S/H. And the work on it is excellent. I don't know where bob gets the photos for his argument. But looking at them you wouldn't believe my bike came from the same shop.

I bought my AF before S/H was asking over 8K a piece. I thought it was a very reasonable deal for a brand new chassis, motor, PC pipe and silencer, S/H engine covers, better carb and fantastic craftsmanship. I paid $7900 out the door. And yes bob, I seen you used my experience to add to your argument on TT. S/H did keep my original engine covers...those bastards! :)

But alas...I am an owner of a S/H and I would buy from them again in a heart beat based on MY experience thus far. And yes I agree, the work done to the bike posted above is garbage, S/H or not!

Thats my point, you dont know what yours going to receive. The older bikes ( Probably built 100% by AJ) look alot better.

MICK wrote: And yes I agree, the work done to the bike posted above is garbage, S/H or not!
Yes, It's a 2006 S/H CR500AFX. Took that photo myself. Garbage work? No.... But its not what you should be getting in terms of fit and finish either.

Corncob? Why is it that the instant you voice a contrary opinion, your a basher? Bashing is factless, and has nothing in common with what I have posted on this subject.

i think it was 420, i missed it too...... my two cents, you will ALMOST never recieve personal attention to detail in a production environment WHEN compared to a one customer at a time style of building. ( i dont know anyone production building street rods or showcars) i mean Foose will bust out 10 of something, but each one is different and all are built one at a time to completion..... i bet the ones AJ handbuilt all by himself are pretty nice, even if he could barely afford to eat... but what his guys are doing when he is doing something else is still subject for him to be held responsible for.....sortof a necessary evil you have to deal with when you go into full blown production of anything.... i dont know AJ personally but he has been very helpful to me through emails and his posts ( i think he types just fine).... you never know if someone else hasnt thrown their own "bead" on a used bike either....... i dont mind if you are a hater Bob, i still think this site is way fuckin' better than when you post something on the other one only to have 5 assholes rack one of their first few posts on how you shouldve done it instead....fuck that shit. Try to show some people some ideas to get some dumbass with an engineering degree looking to argue with you instead...."weld this, asshole!" that goes over good over there.... i like it here where you can at least be honest about how you feel about something, like RJacks trying to get all his money back..... i dont care what the current market is, it aint gonna happen.... and why is he selling it anyway....er uh. well LAter!!!
