Piston size

Post by Fletch 2 »

Iv just been checking out the top end on my 500, though im not to sure if i should replace the piston. The bore looks fine, fairly sure the rings are shagged, the piston though... is a wiesco, you can definatly tell its had work but there is no bad scoring, no cracks, just a bit of discolouring (brown marks near the piston crown) but fairly tidy overall. Also, stamped into the crown is,
A18K3
2.00MM
554P8
TD
Whats this telling me and whats your opinion on the piston?
Cheers,
Fletch.

Can you toss up some photos?

As long as the piston to wall clearence is ok, and the piston shows no sign of defects ,it most likely can be reused.

Look for something around 0.004"

2.00 means you are on the last bore, so it would be good if you could keep it running on that one for a while because the next one is going to require a new jug or resleave.
