In the age of terrorist hype and fear, he's pretty lucky that the Tornado didn't fire one at him.

Not quite the same pucker factor, but I had a run in with a Sheriff just west of Amarillo on the way back from Albuquerque, NM Tuesday night. New Mexico's speed limit is 75 mph (really like that) but Texas is 65 after dark (sucks!). I had the cruise set on just over 70 - probably 72 or 73 mph. His radar said 76. When I picked up the rent car, I noticed it had a musty smell; like it might have gotten wet inside and was a little moldy. Being in a hurry, it was raining, and they would have had to get another car sent down, I went ahead and took it thinking I could spray some air freshener or run with the windows cracked - maybe the smell would go away. When the cop came back to give me the ticket, he leaned in the passenger window and then ask if I had any (named nearly every drug imaginable) and would I mind if he searched the car. I knew I had nothing to worry about so I said "no" to the drugs and "yes" to the search. About that time another cop pulls up and they go through the car. When he opened the trunk and I opened up my test gear boxes, he asked if I notice an odor in the car when I picked it up. I told that I figured it had gotten wet and it was some mold or something. He said the smell was the same as green pot and that's why they wanted to search the car. Thank God they didn't find anything that might have been left over from the previous renter! :bong: So, now being paranoid, I drove the rest of the way to Galveston at either the speed limit or 5 mph under.
I can't win; psycho Southwest gate agents or getting a rent car previously used to haul drugs. Guess I need to find a job where I don't have to travel.
