Could i get some advice?

Post by highdezman »

I have many questions but will start with the basics ok? I currently have a 2001 cr250, What generation would you guys call this? If you guys could point me in the right direction i will post picks and show you my progress of my first conversion ok? Ive fabricated many turbo sys for bikes, cars, trucks just to let you guys know where im starting from ok? If you had my bike and wanted to convert to a 500 what year engine would be ideal, and when i shop for that doner what kind of this should i look for? Thank you very much guys!

The 01 250 is a Gen 2. Gen 1 is 97-99, Gen 2 is 00-01 and Gen 3 is from 02-07.

If I had to choose one frame I'd go with the Gen 3 CR250. Great handling chassis.

Phelan can be a fun place to play ride, I have a friend that rides the tracks up there every Sunday morning and I join him sometimes. Let's all hook up some time and you can be the tour guide and show the whole area.

Didn't Johnny Law crack down on the riding in that area? I know Hesperia is off limits entirely now. And thats next to Phaelan. Been there once or twice a long time ago. It was good riding though.

Phelan it is actually on the very edge of the Cleghorn (sp) trail system that runs through the Cajon pass (Adventure pass, sparky's and green sticker required). I usually get in and out for a few hours of burning gas at the top of the hill. Rangers do camp out at the OHV Staging area at the 138.

I always wondered about riding in that area. Looks like some good trails. Once I get my stuff sorted, I'd be interested in going up there. I am doing an 01 CR250 conversion also.

Ya they do. But once you get up on the ridge overlooking the 15 its cool. Its an easy ticket for no adventure pass.

Well I am still acquiring parts. And have a few more projects that are delaying my AF conversion. I still ride my 92 steelie as is, though.
