Need advice with new carb and reed selection

Post by Dlasure2 »

Good day,

I would like to upgrade the carb and reed cage and possibly the head on my 89. I currently am running a FMF fatty pipe and a Bills silencer. I will list everything I was thinking about going with. If someone would please chime in and tell my if this is a good combo or of there is something better I would appreciate it greatly,

1. BOYESEN POWER REEDS
2. 39MM PWK
3. Cool Head

add a moose 10mm (3/8") reed spacer to the list.

I can make the stock heads chamber work better than the coolhead by altering the squish distance and the band widths, add a decompressor to it for a total of $245.

don't buy anything except the 39mm pwk

Great i will put the spacer on the list. You have me interested in the head mod. My local station sells me vp at a very reasonable price would the head mod work with vp fuel. What else would you recomend i do to the bike

How does the vforce3 reed valve system compare to the boysen. Should i get new reeds to install in place of my reeds or a drop in assembly with new reeds already installed.

You might want to look into this setup :

and I would not recommend the V-Force reeds. I removed them from both my bikes and replaced them with a Boyesen Rad Valve. I installed this Pulse setup on my 95 CR500 and I love it. Roosty can tell you about it also.
