i pulled the head and im sticking the ring in 4 equaly spaced places this is the second time after proper brake in. After break in it would on go about a mile then shut down. And yes the piston is drilled for exhaust webbing. cylinder has ...had new sleeve the guy stood behind it and went to next bore and got me a new piston. but it did the same thing again. any ideas

Im no expert, but it looks like no torque plate used on the bore job.
Yah, I'm from Saskatchetoon!

i run 40:1 full syn as far as the cooling system it has 4 seasons on it no problems until i decided to re-sleeve and replace piston due to time (was a over sidezed bore i wanted to go back to stock). And it was allowed to warm up to temp evey time. Sending it back to the machinest agian. He said cold seize also. the first piston was forged (german type cant remember the name moos... somthin 1 ringer) 2nd was a prox. And what is a torque plate? thanks for the help

To me it sounds like the piston skirt colasped on the crown and was riding on the 4 corners which is not the way a piston is designed to run that's way u have the seizure marks????? what kind of piston to cyl wall Clearence did he machine into it???? Where in Calif are u located im in SF and can machine it for u !!! not that your machinists doesnt know what he's doing im shure he is very capable but you need to have the proper hone stones , finish, piston Clearence and don't forget the bridge relief otherwise your going to keep having problems??????
Look in the approved vendor forum under "bore&hone" u will see my equipment and torque plate to give u a better idea of what he needs to have to even attempt it again!!!!

Blownbillybob did mine and it works perfect with a gorilla butt fat ass twisting on it. He did mine and my buddies, tons of local runs and a session for both of us wringing the crap out of it at sand mountain....still running strong. Your guy might be cool, if not Bill is the sure thing.

i've seen the sleeved cylinders need more bridge relief or the sleeve will expand into the cylinder.

Yeah didn't add Roosty is the sure thing as well....Roosty hooks Hoons off this site up with more knowledge than most of us can comprehend. The guys who know how to give these things the proper love can set you up for it to last a long time. The dude boring chevy 350's behind your local Napa is probably not the right guy.

Not to mention showing up at his shop and then the thrill of jumping into his DuraMax and running 90 mph down the numerous gravel roads in his hood. With one arm out the window while we were swappin worse than a Suzuki down the Carlsbad Freeway.Rhino89523 wrote:Yeah didn't add Roosty is the sure thing as well....Roosty hooks Hoons off this site up with more knowledge than most of us can comprehend.
