Airboot

Post by Hellbear »

I decided to try and fire her up to make sure she is ready to go if someone wants her and she wouldn't run. Looked down and see the airboot had come off the carb. It appears when Glenn did the top-end he didn't hook the boot up correct. After looking at it and trying to get it all hooked back up it won't work. The boot from the airbox is about 1/4 to 1/2 inch to short and is about 1/2 way up the opening for the carb.

I kind of need a cheap quick fix if there is one. I need to get this done so I can sale her. =(

Yeah when I 1st got the bike it was sealed up good. Got the bike back from Glenn and the boot is fucked.

If I get both sides actually on the airbox side pulls the carb out of the motor.

Might give that a go. Not sure the spacer will help with how far off the boot is to the carb. I'll take a pic tonight and post it so you all can see how far off it is.

You try taking your subframe assembly off, loosely bolting it and attaching the boot? Maybe some heat will help set it.
The CR500 is an acquired taste. If you don't like it, acquire some taste...

My bike is an 04 too, and I had to put a reed spacer in mine to pull the carb back far enough to make it reach the airboot. However, I just looked at your post in the Sellers section, and that boot looks like its different than mine. I used the 98 250, yours looks like a 4 stroke boot. Are my eyes goin to shit?
