gen 4 airbox

Post by 2strokeforever »

im thinking of switching to a crf airbox (i think its got the 2005 250X on there now)

do they all bolt up the same
do i want the years before they went to dual silencers
anyone used a gen 3 airboot on there gen 4? of course gluing it real good so it dont leak

might get a whole subframe/airbox.... if the price is right

im after a setup with more room so i can put filterskins on in less than 3 hours, also hoping it might let less dirt in
the 450 will have less power and will be harder to start, and will be heavier, but to make up for it it will require more maintenance.

I'm pretty sure your SH came with an X subframe. The 04/05 R subframe is different. I don't know if an R airbox will fit an X subframe or not. I'm running a gen 1 boot from a 97 - 99. I don't think your motor is rotated to the same angle as mine, so a gen 2 boot would prolly work better, the gen 1 is longer. I posted all the lenghts in the AF section at cr500riders a couple years ago. The older boots are much better and only $28 new. You would need the Dring too which any steely 91+ will do it.
