Hmmm. The stock 5.5 kg Ti spring on my YZ450 is only about 90mm wide. I wonder if one of those would fit your shock. Who makes the spring you have?

I've become a huge fan of the weight savings and action of Ti springs. All it takes is $$$. There's no sense scimping on a high end AF 500 like yours...What's another $600?

Who makes the spring you have?

I get my springs from RCS. I thought the same thing about
finding a smaller diameter ti spring, but every manufacturer
I contacted quoted the same diameter as mine.

I will check into that Yamaha spring because I also like the
feel and responsiveness of the ti spring, it's much better
than steel.

With the steel spring now installed, it looks like I need to take
a couple of mm out of the case for adequate clearance. I can
live with that.

Some others have already ordered them so I
guess they aren't custom "one offs" anymore.
Should be able to get a break on the price as
well. The rear fender graphics are by Throttle
Jockey

This bike is a work in progress and I have made
a few changes after riding it and finding areas
that needed attention.

I replaced the front rotor with a CRF Stuff 270mm
wave rotor and the rear with a matching 2012 CRF
450 wave rotor. I changed the gearing from 14/47
to 14/50 and I swapped the 39.5 Keihin PWK for a
38 Keihin PWK quad vent air striker. I managed
to get my hands on a special RCS ti spring that is
only 5mm larger in diameter than the stock steel
spring. I still had to radius the case, but it fits and
works great!

The new rotors are lighter and more powerful, the
gearing change allows me to run the rear axle all
the way back which helps keep the front end near
the ground and the 38 is good for better throttle
response and the quad vent cuts down on bogging
when landing big jumps. The ti spring is what the
shock is valved for and I really like the "feel" over
the steel spring.

I'm building a CR250 that will use an "electronic"
PWK along with an auto swapping ignition map.
Once I get that sorted out for the 250, I plan to
do the same for this 500.

Next up is a pair of DID LTX rims.

You are correct.
Here are a couple of other examples

If you build your motor from scratch using new parts, it will not have a
serial plate attached just like your new frame will not have a serial
number:

The 500 case did come with a document and a substitute number stating
it was purchased as a replacement case, but Honda only does that for
bikes with engine displacements greater than 300cc. My 500 frame was
a CRF250R "take off" (parted out of the crate), so it has a serial number
and I have a title.

I need to contact somebody to find out about getting serial numbers for
all the engines I build and the 93 CR250 frame - for proof of ownership
for the cops and also ID if anything ever got snatched. Until then, I
keep copies of the documents and reciepts in my truck when I go ride.

I picked up a motor for ALgava that had replacement cases from Honda. It had all kinds of paperwork and a sticker instead of the tab, there is another answer to the problem.....move to Nevada

We don't register, no pinks, no B.S. unless your bike is stolen I guess.

I handle the last problem by surrounding my house with a dry mote filled with a couple dogs, my neighbors and I have an unofficial neighborhood watch thing going, and I usually have some mean looking shit parked out in the driveway, sort of like a billboard saying this is not the house or the guy to mess with.

Bike looks sick, and super clean build......my attempt to keep the post on track.

Ive seen cases from SH bikes with a number punch marked intot he case where the tap would be riveted to

I've seen S/H bikes with stickers stuck on as well.... like those are going to last.

Just swap over the original tag.... or somehow get a tag with a clean history...
