This bike is a work in progress and I have made
a few changes after riding it and finding areas
that needed attention.
I replaced the front rotor with a CRF Stuff 270mm
wave rotor and the rear with a matching 2012 CRF
450 wave rotor. I changed the gearing from 14/47
to 14/50 and I swapped the 39.5 Keihin PWK for a
38 Keihin PWK quad vent air striker. I managed
to get my hands on a special RCS ti spring that is
only 5mm larger in diameter than the stock steel
spring. I still had to radius the case, but it fits and
works great!
The new rotors are lighter and more powerful, the
gearing change allows me to run the rear axle all
the way back which helps keep the front end near
the ground and the 38 is good for better throttle
response and the quad vent cuts down on bogging
when landing big jumps. The ti spring is what the
shock is valved for and I really like the "feel" over
the steel spring.
I'm building a CR250 that will use an "electronic"
PWK along with an auto swapping ignition map.
Once I get that sorted out for the 250, I plan to
do the same for this 500.
Next up is a pair of DID LTX rims.
