Picked up another 85....

Post by jbsleddin »

Been searching for a while now for an 83/84, but came across this one locally. It runs, but as you can see, needs a TON of TLC. I'm not sure if I want to restore it just yet, or possibly try to flip it in the spring, or just keep it as a "running parts bike". Image

At this point in time, I figure I need a subframe, exhaust, and many more less serious items, but if anyone has them for sale, please let me know. The cylinder is not 85, newer style, judging by the cooling inlet. Does anyone know any major frame differences, or will ANY year steelie subframe do the trick? Thanks in advance.

I want to say you could go up to 87 for sub frame, but I don't remember. I had every bike from 85 to 90 but that was a long time ago...

I have the sub frame and front and rear fenders and other misc. parts off my 1988 donor. I'll take some pictures for you and PM them to you.

Sounds good, thanks. Anyone have an exhaust they want to sell, this one is smashed, dented, welded, bent, and beyond repair, I would say....

Sounds like a deal only a fool would pass up! I was going to buy the FMF from Rue but you had first dibs on it, anyway, this sounds much better (and more in my price range at the moment). If you could PM me with pics and shipping price, that would be greatly appreciated!

I haven't heard back from him yet, just assumed it was already spoken for. By the way you're talking, it sounds like a FATTY! (I wouldv'e never guessed it was anything other than a Gnarly!) And still interested in yours, whats the shipping going to cost me? I would put yours on this bike and keep the FMF as a spare for my good 85!

That bike has been listed at 1500 for two years now and been to Rice-o-rama twice with no takers. I'd buy it, clean it and hang it in my living room for the right price.
