CR500 with Blower

Post by CR500PHIL »

Has anyone ever tried to install a blower fan into the airbox boot? I wonder would it make any power increase.

no, no, and no

even a real supercharger is a complete waste of time on a (real) 2 stroke

turbos and nitrous would work
the 450 will have less power and will be harder to start, and will be heavier, but to make up for it it will require more maintenance.

I fail to see how a turbo would work where a supercharger would fail. if anything a supercharger would work better than a turbo because it wouldnt mess with the exhaust wave.

A leaf blower attached to the intake works on cars.....

with a turbo the entire intake and exhaust is pressurised bringing more oxygen into the combustion chamber, think of it as higher atmospheric pressure

now with your supercharger you stuff your compressed air into the crankcase, and when the intake ports open it goes in the cylinder, and guess where it goes when the exhaust port opens.....
the pipe isnt gonna stuff your 10psi of boost back in there, and if it could return some of that air it would only be for a very small rpm range

seen a guy with a blower on a 800 rmk, it basicaly didnt work
turbo 2 stroke sleds work great, there isnt one supercharged 2 stroke out there that works good
the jimmys dont count cause the supercharger dosent give boost, just scavenges, people have tried overdriving the blowers on 71 series and it dont work, but turbos work good on them
it wouldnt mess with the exhaust wave.
that isnt a deal breaker, i have personaly turbocharged a clapped out 503 scandic snowmobile, 5lbs of boost and the thing just flew.... till the pto piston got a hole in it from just a tiny bit lean jetting  EGT guages woulda been a good idea
