My Springfield 1911 is my favorite gun. I bought it in HS, got robbed once and it's the only gun I got back from that ordeal. Some Mexican gang member still has my Desert Eagle

two ways to fix that.

First, dont raise a dumbass. Teach your child properly.

Second, you dont give him possession of it until hes older.
When they are younger, its theirs, they shoot it and care for it, but it stays in the parent's safe when not being shot or cleaned.

If the parents cant follow those simple rules, then the parents shouldnt own firearms either.

Ive been around guns my whole life. Guess how many I took to show my friends?

Back on topic, GSG makes some nice stuff.

Cool idea, kids go shooting with me. They know what bullets will do to flesh. They have seen the Youtube vids of .45 hallow points destroying most of what is in its path.

When I still had the Glock 22 (.40 S&W) and meat prices were not freaking stupid like they are now...I took an old roast that was in the freezer a bit long...let the kids make the correlation of how they are constructed the same way...put a .40 hallow point thought it and let them examine it afterwards.

My goal, stay away from dads safe...dont fuck around with guns unless you know 100% what you are doing and dad is present. I carry a Ed Brown 1911 .45 Kobra Carry these days.

If I may be bold enough.....start Jack with a rifle, say a .22 Marlin or a Ruger if you are out for quality. My first .22 was a Ruger bolt with a 10 round clip...plopped a scope on it and the contest between the old man and I to see whom was the better shot started. That was 30 years ago...I shot that same ruger a year ago and its still deadly accurate. Needless to say, my dad wanted another contest...he's 73. It will create a bond for years to come.... A pistol will do the same, however for long range and possible longevity, a rifle is better. Just thought I would throw my $0.02 in...dad started me off shooting at age 4.

Good on ya Bob.....support your 2nd Amendment rights while teaching Jack at the same time.
