Need opinion on value of this bike.
I gave too much.........but the market here is a little different than Cali or points westward it appears.
I offered 1400 on the 1800 asking, knowing a counter was coming. We settled on 1600, plus I got a set of nice original plastic, and an aluminum stand with a rubber cover on top. The bike sure looks to be clean and I checked out the points that everyone noted as potential problem areas and they appeared to be fine. Time will tell though.
The key for me was coming to the conclusion that after looking at several in the 1000-1300 range, it was going to cost me more to get a nicer appearing piece to start with. Lots of junk in that range here....
I just figured that hopefully if I stretched a bit at the start, it might save me a buck in the future. Again, time will tell. And, the reality of where I am now is that if the 500 engine I bought is solid, I can still have this AFC/AFX/LMC whatever you want to call it together and looking good for less than 3k. That's the number I was shooting for from the start. So now it's time to get this thing going and see if my numbers bear truth and if not, hell who cares, its only money and I have wasted more on race cars, street cars and beer in the last 15 years than whatever over run of budget I may encounter on the build.
Here's the real deal....I have already had more fun than I ever expected when I got this wild hair by joining the other board and seeing the what that was about, then stumbling upon this board and learning everything I have to this point and seeing the true spirit of what it means to be a man by all the help and fellowship offered by everyone that has posted in response to any question that I have asked. That may have come off a little "gay" but what I meant is that y'all are some pretty cool fockers that I'd feel privileged to have a beer with around the campfire.

thats not too much. Even though I got a steal on my roller, I had to buy a bunch of bearings and various hardware and still need new plastics, etc. To put all that into perspective I easily spent a few hundred more on stuff that you probably won't have to. Good luck with the build, and ask away. I have pics that aren't in my build thread if you have any questions on stuff not posted.
BTW, let me know if you need a kit.

Also, the swingarm had no play in it whatsoever. The rear axle bearings have some play in them and need replaced or repacked in grease?
Chain slider is shot and it needs a quality chain and sprocket set.
Hate the bark busters.....need ideas on what to replace those with.
I will replace the bars and controls. Needs clutch cable and ideas on whats best for bars.

My wheel had some slop too, but wasn't the bearings, if your bearings come out a little too easy, check this out.

I do need the kit, so PM the details if you prefer and thanks for all your help!
I'm sure I'll have more questions to come.
I guarantee that the bike will be slick when I am done with it, even if it is a Gen1, no point in not having a nice looking ride irregardless of the year.
I have a buddy that has the 82 CR250 he bought in high school and it is immaculate. That's what I am aiming for.

$198 sounds like allot, but it will be the last chain and sprockets you buy for a long, long time, and they will not let you down 30 miles from the truck. You'll save than much in Chain Lube (that you wont be buying...)

Wow, you guys get cheap bikes down there!
I bought my 99 CR250 2 years ago and it cost me 3500 bucks! (schmint shape though)
I still wouldnt sell it for less than 3,000.
I might just have the most expensive Gen1 on the block yet!
.....anybody want to buy a cart motor?!
