chevy sucker punch

Post by 100hp honda »

why didnt they include the dodge for the frame twist and exh brake tests ?? obviously they ran these tests before hand and dodge did as well or better so it wasnt included in the final taped video. these lame bashing videos are funny. i thought the dodge was 800ftlb trq stock ? chevy test says dodge is 650 trq for 2011. maybe thats the 2012 dodge thats 800 trq ?

So after 100k your Chevy is sitting nice and ridgid in your driveway not running while us Ford and Dodge guys are hauling are bikes to the local riding area. No thanks GM ( government motors ) I'll stick with my F250.

Theres a reason Ford trucks have been best sellers for the last 30 or so years.....our landlords each bought a new Duramax around 04 or 05, and both of them LOVE rear end seals and have both had trans issues. one is worked, one is babied. both have had nearly identical issues.

ya, the other reason is that they class general motors and chevrolet as different trucks, the whole reason ford dropped the mercury truck line.
I know of 3 fords bought brand new 100km away that didnt make it home and junked the engines.
The guys that have issues with chevys are likely using them
we've ran alot of trucks, done alot of things to them. Ford and Dodge arent up for it powertrain wise. Having said that, the only front end that lasts up in the oilsands is the f350, guys rattle out the chevy unless it has the idler arm gussets.

Probably the Navistar 6.0 or the 6.4 right? Both of them were junk, I wouldnt own one.

The two chevys I mentioned are practically twins. one is babied, the other is used. both have been nearly identical as far as problems. Not bad trucks, but not great either.

we work on A lot of the landscaping companies vehicles around here. most of these things have several hundred thousand miles on them, most of which are fords.

There is one high van in particular that was a rental moving van before the guy bought it.....he has overloaded it to the point he snapped the wheel studs off (almost 4 tons of salt bags in an E-350 highvan....) and its been great. 300+K on it so far...falling apart from rust, but motor and trans are still tight.

We have all the fords at work. 7.3, 6.0, 6.4
We have a duromax with the allison
We have a dodge with the cummins and an auto.

They all have their problems.

Motors
I give the cummins the 1st place. problem free most miles
second probably the duromax but its sort of a toss up against the 7.3
last 6.4 with the 6.0 coming in close as the worst

Tranny's we are all auto's
Allison 1st
the rest have all had problems when the OD light starts blinking on your ford get ready to spend.

Body
Ford gets first
Chevy second mostly because of the door hinges
Dodge turns to crap especially with salt

Interior
I kind of like the Dodge
the ford seats in the newer ones take up so much space and feel like bricks
The Chevy seat fit me like a miniskirt, they cut me short on the theigh.

Frame and axles
Probably the ford the front end is the only one you can put a plow on without having everything take a crap. The Chevy drives really nice but its like car parts up there with CV axles and Idler arms. Off road hard abuse the Chevy just breaks. Dodge goes right in the middle. Straight axle with coil springs is just not as beefy as the ford. Frames I don't really know because we have not cracked any of them.

My choice as the winner.....easy

A Chevy styled body with Ford Doors, a Dodge seat with Chevy interior layout. A Cummins motor with a Duromax tranny and Ford Axles.

Or just buy a 65 International Crew Cab 4x4, put the motor and tranny out of a schoolbus in it and pull all this stuff out of the way so you can take your family winter wheeling in the back 40
