Cool - was it me or was it rocking back n forth? Wonder what they're doing for heat shielding...my pops worked for Rockwell back in the day - gave me a piece of the shuttle tile - cool stuff. You can heat it up with an oxy torch till it glows red but is cool to the touch on the other side. 

The CR500 is an acquired taste. If you don't like it, acquire some taste...

The shuttle is coming in at 25,000 mph ( Oribital Flight) , and the friction is crazy..... heat sheilding is a must.
This this basically goes straight up, floats in space, and falls like a rock straight down.
The tail booms "feather"... much like a shuttlecock.

While its falling, it does wobble a bit.
Then , once its low and slow enough, the tail booms reposition for flight, and a soft landing.
Here's the first version , Space Ship One
Jack and I got to sit in it at Burt Rutans birthday party.
No photos were allowed....
