Gen 1 Conversion ?
Gen 1 Conversion ?
I am about to pull the trigger on some parts......first of which will be a powerplant. If you do the conversion on a Gen1 250, what pipe do you use?

For a gen 1 pipe, the original steely mount can remain in place.Take a piece of your favorite corect size of scrap metal and put 2 90 degree bends in it to make 3 sides.Carefully trim it to fit against the pipe in the spot where the mount will reach it.Drill a hole in the corect spot of the bracket.Drill the hole large enough so that the 6mm bolt will clear the hole easily then tack weld a 6mm nut on the backside of your new mount. After the nut is welded securely to the bracket, remove the pipe from the bike and tack the new bracket to pipe.Re-fit the pipe to the bike to make sure your measurement was good.If it was, complete the weld on the bracket and pipe.
AND.......Dont forget to put the 6mm nut on the bracket before you weld the bracket to the pipe......

I used an FMF gnarly. no need to weld on that rear mount, it holds together fine, but if you're really anal, you can. otherwise, I drilled a new hole in my mount and the front pipe mounting bracket and it almosts looks factory. I cut off the rear mount. I think I put pics in my build thread.
BTW, if you want a gen-1 conversion kit, we still have some available.
