PWK carb measurment

Post by lug nut »

Digging around in my enormous pile of motorcycle junk I pulled out a PWK. I have no idea what bike the carb came off of. I can't decide if it is a 38 or 39mm. Where do you measure the bore at? From my el cheapo calipers it appears that the bore is tapered. The very outside edge of the bore appears to be 39mm, but when measuring further back inside it appears to be about 38.4mm. What do you guys think?

After looking at the carb again it is an airstriker, so its likely a 38mm.

I went ahead, cleaned it up and put it on the bike yesterday. I didn't have the greatest sizes of jets and needles to choose from, but the bike started much easier than with the PJ. After taking a look at the PJ jet sizes it is a wonder the bike would start at all. The previous owner had it jetted way rich.
