Vortex CDI
Vortex CDI
I spoke with a friend and he said a Vortex CDI box is the ticket for a CR500. Anyone had experience with this?
I haven't had any experience with a Vortex on the 500Anyone had experience with this?
but I have used them on my 250s with real nice results,
good enough that I will be using one in combination
with a 2000 CR250 stator and flywheel on the 500
engine I'm building now.
Being able to tune the curve to your specific needs
is a nice advantage. I will probably start with a stock
500 curve (adjusted to compensate for the 250 stator
position), then do a bunch of track testing to make
changes.

i run a vortex with 10 grams shaved off the standard 500 flywheel,an upgraded source coil and i love the vortex,my bike goes pretty dam hard and is hard to hold on and keep down and i mean wheelie over in every gear, i use the vortex on map 4 and it tames it right down so i can go for a trail ride or cruise, then flick the switch for drag mode, personally i think its one of the more versatile bolt ons for the 500,i think a shit load more people would buy them if they did not worrie so much about the cost.get one i say.

We are using an 89 cylinder with a PC pipe. As of now, it is a stock reed with 38 PWK. It also has a 94 250 analog ignition. When I took the motor apart, it was a 90 cylinder with a Wiseco 90.+mm piston. I have an 89 cylinder that has a ProX .25 over. Does the difference in weight of the larger piston, have an effect on balance? I am looking for a very mellow motor to use on an MX track.
