Read through a bunch of threads but got contradicting information. Is there a difference between the 99, 00, or 01? Would you mod this so it is a bolt-n-go for my 97 500 motor? Will I be screwing with this thing once it's mounted? finally, were you able to personally test this ignition? Thanks!

The ONLY difference between 99, 00, and 01 is the mapping in the CDI. I've owned em all. The stator has to be machined to fit on a 500 case. It's easy. I do em with a drill press and a flat bottomed carbide burr. I've herd of peeps using a router with a carbide bit to do em. It's just Aluminum.

x2 and it makes it start easier too
im running 4 ish degrees advance and i love it
i used a drill and a die grinder bit, took a while, but it dosent have to be exact,
i got a 99
the 450 will have less power and will be harder to start, and will be heavier, but to make up for it it will require more maintenance.

Yes I still have it. I'm going to say yes its a 99. But someone could have put a other year ignition in the motor.
