but take into account that crf500 is meant to be rebuilt every 25? hours...i dont remember what i read......
if the CR cylinder was cast differently with modern port layouts and everything designed for better flow the results would be different.
your comparing something that was built 20 years ago to something new with TONS of R&D dumped into it....the 500 was never developed much at all.
plus, the 2 stroke goes BRAPPPP!

Yeah, kind of makes you wonder what the 500 could be if it had been developed like the 4 strokes.
I often wonder what a powervalve would be like on a 500 seeing as my 2001 CR250 responds like no other bike I've ever owned.
Who knows, what comes around goes around.
Ya know?
I mean 4 strokes were here and gone now they're back.
Maybe the 2 strokes will do the same.

I have a KTM 525SX with a JE 540 kit in it. 13.5:1 comp, bigger cam and valves, ported and my 500 will kill it. Add same shot of nitrous to both and the KTM is the winner hands down.
That's why no one rides 4 strokes in the 0-600cc class. (can't use nitrous in that class) They get killed by big 2 strokes.

I even thought of you as I was next to him lol, in all fairness tho I was running lower gearing so I think the crf500 has an edge on your 450, not much but a definate edge

Sounds like a wager is forming....
The CR500 is an acquired taste. If you don't like it, acquire some taste...
