Mine goes in 90% before the reed stops contact the throat. They touch, but I wouldnt call it smashed down.100hp honda wrote:mototassinari said it was normal for the flappers to be smashed down when inserted

what if during the winter i drove up there, dynoed my bike, pulled it apart, got you to do your work then dyno it again?
whats it worth for a dyno pull?, or could you throw it in for free

the 450 will have less power and will be harder to start, and will be heavier, but to make up for it it will require more maintenance.

got mine long time ago. could have been slight design change since then. your jug could be slightly different. hard to say. 1/4 way in they touched, all the way in the flapps were severly smashed. to be honest the damn thing almost needed a hammer to get it all the way in very first time i tried. something wasnt right. figured it was design flaw, they assured me it was supposed to be like that. whateverAlisoBob wrote:Mine goes in 90% before the reed stops contact the throat. i'm sure Bobs and yours will be the same, the reed spacer i did for bob was an old rotten reed boot i milled the center out of to fit over the reedcage, i've used them before on stock reeds to sneak them back a bit.

I assume you may also do this to lessen the shrouding of the piston/ barrel inlet port and transfer boost ports by the reed unit?Roostius_Maximus wrote:i'm sure Bobs and yours will be the same, the reed spacer i did for bob was an old rotten reed boot i milled the center out of to fit over the reedcage, i've used them before on stock reeds to sneak them back a bit.
That's the reason I run my reed block spacer - not for added case volume as it is normally used for. I run a 9mm thick spacer on my steelie - any more than that makes slide access too hard - on AFs I've been able to use thicker spacers, to get the optimal distance I want.

One thing I will say for anyone thinking about having Adam do porting for them... He has seen and tried out everyones porting, seen all the tricks the big names pull and has used all of this to develop porting I would consider to be equal to or greater than what you could get anywhere else. Plus hes a hoon though and through, so everyone go buy some porting from him!

Bob, you putting that on before dumont???

hadnt seen that, but its neat, crank or wheel?
the torque peak is pretty dammn late coming in, and the same as what my conservative "twirp" porting does on the wheel.
i'm not going to say more HP cant be made, but it makes the bike a piece of crap to ride/own for most people

I am not aware of anything but wheel driven dyno's by dynojet.
I am sending my cylinder and cases to Adam this week.
I have 2 motors, and 3 cylinders for personal use.
The 3rd engine is being sold with my 450 chasis.
One will be for Ice racing, and so I am exploring other possible options for ultimate top end power.
Who's motor was that Clyde?
I am suprised to see numbers like that with a CR500 engine, and wonder if it wasn't on a quad, as the expansion chamber is the most restrictive high HP part on a bike from what I understand.

Heres two before I go.... Notice cross hatch is still present, notice smooth bore, notice perfectly clean exhaust ports...
Good machine work ( Q&E in Anaheim, Torque plate & Plateau honed)
Good tuneup ( #42 pilot, DGJ Needle, #172 main <most the time>)
Good oil ('927)
Good airfilter ( UNI w/ Belray Sticky Blue !!)

Yeah boy! 9 years on mine before the first rebuild. It didn't even need a top end then. I wore out the main bearings. No gunk, no scuffing, nada. Just toasted main bearings. The frame and chassis are pretty well thrashed though.
But then, I never ride, and when I do, I can't ride for shit.

No longer have a CR500.
