There isn't an aftermarket water pump for a CR500. Why does your friend think he needs one?

same Taffy from Thumpertalk waaay back in its inception?

I thought the same about the 250 but never did look into it much.
I am pretty sure the pump volume and flows will be different, since the suction and disharge lines are bigger on the 500.

I carefully radius all the sharp edges, open up the suction side slightly, with smooth corners, and remove and casting imperfections without changing the shape of the volute, or the volume especially on the discharge side of the pump.

Centrifugal pumps turn velocity into pressure, and volume CC of the pump and especially the discharge side, changes the pressure / flow out of the pump.
By design the discharge must be smaller than the suction side, so I only clean up the discharge, I do not hog it out. The discharge side is one of those situations where small ports is better than big ports

I'll post up pics on the next waterpump I modify

the 450 will have less power and will be harder to start, and will be heavier, but to make up for it it will require more maintenance.
