A quick "How ya'Do", and a photo would be nice.

Another kiwi 500 owner

Post by badingding »

Gidday people, so happy to see a site dedicated tothe big bores :)

My first bike ever was an 85 CR250... after which I pimped myself out to every brand, every size, but always wanted an CR500.

I did get to ride one many years ago but it was a dog ! Sosince then I've always had that... keep your eyes open kind of a mentality.

So I found an 85 CR500 this year and she's sitting in my garage undergoing a bit of a resto... only thing left is a new stator (old one's peak voltage was waaay down - 80V) so once Steahly offroad gets it to my door I'm out riding !

Will post a pic once figure out how .

Meantime i'll be reading and searchin the site for all the good gossip !

Glad to be part of the community.

Gidday fellas :)

Any idea where I can find the factory spring rates for my bike? The rear spring feels a might soft, but who knows where to start?

Cheers

in your service manual. if you don't have one, get one. ebay or rockymountainatv, etc.

it's a must have.

Thanks mate - i have the original 85 Honda Service manual but there is no mention of spring rates, only free length :( front or rear.

It mentions the Owners manual ( I thought it was the same thing??) as a reference so I will have to do a search for that I reckon.

Will hunt the interweb !

Many thanks

J
