Good place for a bore job in Canada?

I recently had the local shop bore my cylinder for a new Honda piston. When I got it back, I found out they had bored it .5 mm over instead of .25 mm as they only had the second oversize piston in stock, so now I can't use Honda pistons anymore. Also they seem to have bored it way too large. I could easily fit a .005" feeler gauge between the piston and cylinder and the rings were at .021" and .022" end gap, all way beyond the service limits in my manual. Anyway to make a long story short, I slapped it together as I had a trip to the dunes planned and ran it. It had a ton of piston slap and made less power than before the rebuild. I have run 20 gallons through it and just tore it down and it already has the smile cracks starting. So now I need a good place to get it redone. I am definetly not going back to the shop that did it last time. Anybody know of a good place in Canada that actually knows what in the hell they are doing and maybe has a torque plate?

im pretty sure roostius maximus can get it done right for you, hes in manitoba too, chances hel have responded in less than 12 hours

I was actually just in Vernon at the family cabin on Okanagan lake, lol. Didn't bring the bike tho. I am planning a dirt bike camping trip this fall as I have a bunch of buddies in southern BC. Maybe we can hook up for a ride.

i live in vernon, it be great to go ride with a few other 500 riders, pm or email me a few weeks in advance

theres actually a really good hare scramble happening at bardolph/becker lake september 3 4 5 or 6? not sure which thats definatly worth hitting tho
i think its called squealing pig or red rooster???
but theres usualy around 100+ people racing, im going to enter, even if i come last at least there l be a few 450 riders with bruises from my roost

Roosty bored a cylinder for me, and the work was A+. I put my micrometer on it and it was SPOT ON for the particular piston I needed. He also uses a torque plate, which your former machine shop probably didn't use. And the hone was textbook perfect.

single track woods race. Where I am loops can last 1/2 an hour to an hour or so, they usually go for around 3 hours. Dem boys are usually in pretty good shape compared to us MX dudes who only go at it for portions of an hour.

Hare scramble is the name given to a particular form of off-road motorcycle racing. Traditionally a hare scramble can vary in length and time with the contestants completing multiple laps around a marked course through wooded or other rugged natural terrain. The overall winner is awarded to the contestant who maintains the highest speed throughout the event.

Hare scrambles are conducted on closed course tracks which can vary from 2.5 to 40+ miles (8 to 64+km) in length. The terrain chosen for these events is wooded and fairly rugged in order to test the riders' skills and endurance. The majority of the course consists of a wooded, single and double width trail, with occasional pasture and sand crossings. An event may incorporate a short portion of a pre-existing motocross track. The natural terrain tests the riders' abilities to navigate through obstacles such as creek beds, logs, hills, mud, rocks and ruts.

Awesome. It won't be until this fall or even winter, as I am in the middle of my conversion. Once I get everything sorted out I will be contacting you for a bore job. Vertex pistons sound good, not a fan of Wiseco, and I am now too big for a Honda piston.
