i think it said it was jetted super shittily tho, whitch could easily take 10 horses or more away
the 450 will have less power and will be harder to start, and will be heavier, but to make up for it it will require more maintenance.
4stroke=dead fish
those old machines are badass and a piece of history, not much power though. everything changed somewhere about '85 with huge reed cages and big exhaust ports. piston port design died off, honda and ktm started using massive reed intakes that had never been seen before. i had a yz465, was sweet for its time but a newer 250 would take it out, definatly wouldnt hold a candle to a modern 500cc bike .
Powervalves helped a lot.
But hey, I just bought a 1974 Elsinore 250.
Get off that and get on my 2001 CR250, that sob is violent!
It's just incredible how much progress bikes have made.
Still, it was just a plain blast to get on that old Elsinore and relive some memories.
