Singletrack backflip
The problem for me is 12 inches of suspension on a motocross bike in the woods trying to ride stuff a trials type bike is designed for.
The Scorpa T-Ride is perfect for this stuff.

If you watch their demo videos, you'll see. It really is the perfect trail bike.
I love my 250, I really love my 500 but I love them for other things.
Jumps, blasting berms, the adrenaline rush of the throttle response.
My CR's are no compromise motocross bikes, in the woods there are lots of compromises. Seat height is a BIG one for me and I'm 6'.
Anyway, since you guys like the woods here's the video Ed sent me.

He cleaned it up because I had some choice 4 letter words after that crash.
Ed is on an XR250, Sam is on a CR250 with knee braces, I'm on a CR250 number 17, Keith is on a YZ426, Will is on a vintage 1980 CR250 and Matt is on a yz426 and a big KTM not sure the size.
Sam and I sat out the last part because it started to drizzle and we knew what was coming, a fuckin downpour!
We were sittin in our comfy chairs under the gooseneck of a trailer!
I know it made Will sick to drop that vintage bike.

Damn, I can't believe you keep hacking me because I prefer the right tool for the job.
I wouldn't take a trials bike on a motocross track or the other way around.
Why don't we see people with cafe racers on a trials course? Obvious.
Most people that ride have one bike they try to do it all with.
I bought the KDX with woods in mind but, again the seat height messes me up.
Right now, I have 5 bikes and am looking at 2 trials bikes and a 250 and 400 CZ.
Like I said, the seat height messes me up in the woods. Not to mention the suspension setup.
Mixed in almost every place I've been are bonafied trials sections.
Maybe if I were 20 years younger I'd like to try the {pitas} pain in the ass stuff. Now, at 52 I don't care for that shit.
Looking at that video and remembering the sections Ed left out, I WOULD have a good time on a Scorpa T-Ride, trouble is they're $10k and hard to find.
btw-You say you don't understand duners? I do.

I can understand that. Although some of the best riders I know are much older than that and handily outride me in the woods. My own father included @ 62... on a 500cc 2 Stroke. He loves it. The harder, the better.Tharrell wrote:Maybe if I were 20 years younger I'd like to try the {pitas} pain in the ass stuff. Now, at 52 I don't care for that shit.
Imagine that. My nearest dealer is a 4 hour drive in Whitefish MT. Real handy for picking up parts.Tharrell wrote:Looking at that video and remembering the sections Ed left out, I WOULD have a good time on a Scorpa T-Ride, trouble is they're $10k and hard to find.

My YZ was $5200 out the door brand new. $10k?!?! No thanks.
Really, I'm not trying to hack on you or belittle you in any way. I'm just trying to understand you. You started the conversation.
Me and the duners conversation is old...

Piss on singletrack. ...Unless I have the PERFECT tool, then it would rock.
Next you're going to tell me that my Prime Rib sux ass because I don't have the perfect fork.

You found the dudes weakness ( the ability to ride Singletrack), and exposed it.MojoScojo wrote:What the hell did I say to provoke this?

I ride the dunes, single track, two track, Forest, Dez, GP's, Putt-Putt w/ the kids, everything...
None of it well mind you, but I ride it all... have a good time doing it and I ride it with one bike.
No other single bike could do all that.
No, I can't ride the stuff I've been on lately without waddling and they call it single track.
Not with a motocross bike with 12" of suspension.
I just don't like waddling in sections that I can't touch the ground.
I'm too old and grumpy as it is. That shit makes me worse.
As far as this thread goes, I simply stated my opinions and everyone tried to sell me on single track.
I would like most of what I've ridden and what you're talking about if I had something better suited to me and the terrain.
I've washed the sand out of my vagina now so won't you do the same?
Life's too short to take any of this crap serious anyway.

Tharrell,
http://www.bannedcr500riders.com/board/ ... php?t=9544
Now put a teaspoon of concrete in your coffee & harden the fuck up,
we did a 4hr enduro some weeks back, much like those trails viewed, but let me tell ya this were going a fk load faster then Mojo's crew, there on a social ride & good on'm, were often FWO & theres 70 other fuckers trying to be the first 1 home, not to mention the wild life...kangaroos...snakes...wild pigs...water buffalo, Roostmaster hadnt riden in over a year & a half but got a 2nd place on a ....guess it...yes a CR500 steely.
Looking at your picture of you looking for ants on that tree, mate i LMFAO,
to me thats funny shit...so you fell off, so you scratched your bike, but you got up like a real rider, shook off the hurt, laughed with your mates & all was good, thats what its all about.
We all know its going to give us killer blisters a sore arse & a $100's worth of repairs to work on when we get back home, big deal...i love it
that trail looked soft to me nothing to hard there i would of thought, but we all get caught by the odd root every now & then.
So you dont like single trail...fine you've made your point & its a fare call, your not a bush rider, MX's do shit i only dream of, but i can still pull a good string of laps together when i do get sucked into a club meet, & like you i'm not to keen on swappers, there out of control & not in a skillful way.
#127 D Fields Northern Territorys #1 MX'er multipal times, after 1 lap of a 35km loop he wasn't 1st...he did crash out

Me Flat out in top at the start finish line, lap 1

we race in this

me half way through lap 4

Yeah, I saw that thread you posted and thought about what would happen when you hit a kangaroo at speed. Someone in my area hit a dear at speed on the trail recently, severe overpopulation problem here.
The part of the trail I went down was not the worst. After that incident, the trail narrows with massive ruts and stumps in the middle of the ruts.
It's so narrow, there's no choice but to follow the center line ruts. Anyway, there was a tree growing at a 45 degree angle across the trail and my chin was on the fuel tank and I still hit my head. That's what set me off.
I guess if anyone knew me they might understand why I don't like it.
First, I grew up in Florida and there wasn't any of this stuff there.
I learned how to ride in sand and avoid puckerbushes on a 1974 YZ125A.
I spent most of my time on tracks and practicing at some undeveloped land.
I raced a 1985 ATC250R and it chased me like a refrigerator several times.
Forward to 1990 and the Eglin AFB bomb range perimeter.
Me and my buddies were filming a natural double jump and someone hit me head on over the jump.
I spent lots of time in the hospital over 4 months time and had 2 operations.
When I got back on my bike, I really didn't have the confidence I had before. I was riding a dune area and stopped but my left foot got hung up on the foot peg. I fell over, shoulder first then my head slammed the ground. It felt like my brain was swishing around inside my head.
That was the most pain I had ever felt.
I just got out of the sport and spent all my time on my boats.
I bought my 500 in december and have only ridden it twice, barely because I can't find a suitable place.
My 250 I just rebuilt the week before that trailride and it was barely broken in.
Anyway, I'm trying to get my skills back and some of these places are tough.
The last bike I had was a 1988 YZ250 (great bike) and I felt good and comfortable on that bike.
My 250 is now the best overall for me and am looking forward to an AF conversion.
Even if I had more time on any of these bikes, I still prefer a track or "place to play" type ride.
The whole point of the trails back then was to find a new place to play.
The trail was only a way to get there.
It's too bad that Scorpa I posted about is so hard to find and expensive because it truly looks like a good trail bike.
