just kidding, kinda

if i had a giant stack of those stickers i could have a lot of fun at a AMA event :D
the 450 will have less power and will be harder to start, and will be heavier, but to make up for it it will require more maintenance.

Considering that KTM has the best head and valvetrain design in current MX bikes these days and the KTM450 only makes ~3 hp more than the jap450's, claiming a 350 would keep up with the 450's was a lofty goal.

I just sold my 505xcf 4 months ago to build my next CR500AF because it didn't have the power.

The 350cc math never did equate for me.... 350 is a midgets bike.
It will likely scream to 14,000 rpm, without any bottom end torque.

the bike works well, its good handling, skinny and lite, BUT its only good on tracks were you cruze wfo, it'll get up and sing, but it wont pull out of a mudhole or up a hill with the rest of the 450s. Its made to keep the soft riders from getting tired

hey, i didn't do it on purpose fukn puters at work.... :?
My 505 was nice bike, great traction and metered linear power, with decent rip on top, but I like the 5Honey best. I love the roost, wheelies, outright snap, ability to plane on top of sand in 15 feet, ability to float the whoops with out worry fo the front end falling in and looping you out.
Only thing I don't like is the 2 stroke smoke.

i dont know if id buy ktms first attempt at a linkage rear end
are the 450 too cheap to keep the motor together, if the 350 can keep up itll probably drop a valve every 10 hours

WTF? Thats the best part!

..this is not their 1st attempt. I heard removing the linkage was a cost saving measure when sales were crap.
The CR500 is an acquired taste. If you don't like it, acquire some taste...

The XR650R is a great bike. When you open them up, you can get a lot more power out of them. They are heavier than the CR & you can't jump as much, but way better & much lighter than a KLR or DR650.

I've got an XR650R & a CR-500AF - both street legal.

The XR is a great bike, but I missed the two smoke so much I had to pick up the CR.

LOL ...when the garage is full of it, or my clothes stink of 2str smoke...... not a fan of that.

KTM likely realized they will never get valving to compensate and linear rate linkage, to compete with a rising rate linkage...

if you guys read any magazine shootout from pre '97 youll see ktm (with linkage) had as good or better suspenders than the japs. it aint their first rodeo.

Just make sure you figure out a way to safety wire the grenade pin in the ktm motor so it doesn't fall out.
