making a 17mm swingarm hole in a 87 motor

Post by seanmx57 »

Anyone know how to make the 15mm hole into a 17 without spilting cases? Adam told me it can't be drilled because the collars are hardened. I have a drill press and access to machine shops.

Have the 87' bushings/collars removed and have the cases bored to accept the 17mm bushings/collars. That is what I did to my 88' and I used the bushings/collars from the 98' CR250 that came out of the frame.

I used a drill bit as well.
Its a little snug, you have to ream a little.
I cracked the case on one motor tapping the CR 250 bushings in.

Just tap them out, ream with 13/16 bit, and tap in the CR250 bushings.
Easier than my sister!

are the bushings a part I can buy from honda or do I need a set of junk cases to rob them from?

I tried taking home a drill bit and reamer to attempt doing it without splitting the cases and about broke my arms. Split the cases and took them to work and had them machined out on a lathe and he said " they were harder than a preacher's dick at a double wedding". It could hang up in the engine and brake the cases like someone said. Hoping to get mine cranked real soon.
