Im dead tired and my brain is pretty fried but im pretty sure your need for larger jets is due to porting and a 41mm carb. The bigger the carb the poorer the signal. Plus the higher top end the porting the less efficient at low RPM which also requires more fuel to compensate...kdizzle wrote: i have no idea how the hell you guys get away with such lean jetting. If i run anything less than a 55 pilot my bike wont start for shit, and is so ring dingy that it wont rev down in the air during a jump.

got her fixed dont know exactly what it was, but i fliped the clutch rod and changed the springs around , and now it just barley fully disengages with me using 2 fingers and the other 2 in between the bars and lever
( the smaller fingers between the bar and lever, and index / middle fingers pulling)
i think it this was caused by honda having lower QC standards for the real open bikes because they arent sold under their name anymore

the 450 will have less power and will be harder to start, and will be heavier, but to make up for it it will require more maintenance.

heres the 4" circle traced onto a cr500 jug
now you go look at glens pics he posted. do you think thats a 4" piston.... of course not. smoke and mirrors my friend . hes a magician and can fool people real well with a blue marker

Clyde, you're an idiot
look at the space from the bore to the stud holes, then from the stud holes to the outside. look at glens other pic with the LA Sleeve package. Then call Nick Jr at La Sleeve and ask him about it

remember "Fueltech USA" having the 600cc engine, it didnt require case trenching, the 720 does
Send Glen a wad of $ and see what comes back

i'm not going to argue about THAT engine, but the 720s are out there. the heads in both pictures arent the same head either, one is an N sitting with the bottom end, ones an R thats been cut for a larger bore

I will venture to say to make a piston that big work glen used straight 8mm studs instead of the 10mm/8mm Honda used.
That squish band is huge on that head it must not be a high reving motor.
My +6mm stroked 500 has no spacer under the cylinder but the new alum sleeve has the exhaust port raised 3mm and the piston pops out the top.

we do stuff like that all the time, we took a 4 cyl engine from a massey 101 and doubled the cid of it, also made it rev 3500 rpm, more than double the goveronor speed.
first thing you need to realize is that its only money

highjack away it dont bother me at all, nice work glen, whats a mild port job and head reshaping worth???,
or roosty do you have more info on your porting, not specs, but dyno sheets if the low end is that much better i might be interested but it have to be a big improvement for me to go with a low mid powerband...
glen I got an idea for a guy like you, its expensive though, aerocharge a 500

it builds boost at high idle WITH NO LOAD, and dosent restrict flow on the top end, and it dosent need oil
you would be smoking R1 climbers on a 500 that weighs half as much
only downside is $2500
