5mm cylinder spacer

Post by moabnut »

Hello there glen
Im looking for a 5mm cylinder spacer. I want to run a late model crank, rod and cylinder on my 86 cases. Does anyone make one or is this custom?

Thanks Sam

Last I knew, cometic made them, but you'll also have to have the cases bored to fit the large O.D. of the cylinder sleeve, and longer studs in the cases.

I ran the cometic kit on my gen-1. I don't remember the part numbers, but you could give them a call.

no issues w/ the kit. I didn't like the thin hicomp base gaskets since they are thin without the metal shim, so I used a very thin coat of yamabond on the bottom, used some shims and ticghtened it down and cleaned up the excess, then used a standard cometic metal shim base gasket to make it easier to pull the jug later.
It wasnt very pricey, I want to say like $30-$40 or somehting like that.

dug up an old e-mail from them:
This is what you will need for a 5mm spacer kit:

1 - B0016188A $28.25 each
2 - B0016012F $6.30 each (12.60)

#2 is the thin hi comp gasket, your call if you want to run 2 of them or do like I did.

How much grinding is required to the cases? It looks pretty close. Is trimming the skirt off the cylinder a no no?

if you plan to use .020 gasket on top and bottom of the plate youll need about a .177" thick. thats assuming you want to keep port/deck heights the same as before.
