I am not sure of the answers to your question either. However, I do have a complete 2000 cr250 ignition system I would trade for your stock 500 system should you choose to go that route.

Would the Reed spacer be needed with you're pulse charged intake system? Always wanted to fool around with that after reading a write up by Eric Gorr on it.

converting a 2010 CRF-450?

Any comments on what needs to be done and how suitable is this bike is for shoe horning a 500 motor in it?
My last 500 was a 03 Service Honda 500 af. Was very happy with the bike, but their prices are very high now and I think I can do it myself pretty cheap comparatively.

Easy to make, you would just need enough sets to get the price down and make it worthwhile for the machine shop making them.

I believe Mr. Hall is spot on. One of the best snowmobile engine guys I know breaks his motors in on the dyno by bringing them up to temp, then making a series of pulls the last of which would sometimes make the expansion chamber head section start to glow.

In a CR-500 the rpms are pretty low. I have no reservations in regards to using Yamalube 2R at 32:1 for trail and MX use and at 20:1 for the dunes. It burns very clean at these ratios with the caveat your jetting is on, protects well during long term storage (like our 6month long winters..) and ...
