I am trying to finalize the design for the coolant system on my AF
project.

If I understand correctly, on the stock CR500, the coolant enters the
head from each radiator and is returned from the bottom of the right
side radiator. Does anybody see a problem with utilizing a single
supply line that incorporates a "Y" to feed both cylinder head inlets?

If this is indeed possible, I can use the stock OE CRF250 radiators and
only have to deal with custom hoses.

on our conversions we run the same setup as the 500 2 hoses out of the head to each rad and machined a spigot for the bottom rad all done in an hour i have run tight single track in summer here that is 40+ degree c and never boiled yet when i check the coolant i have never had to but in more than approx 50 ml

what conversion are you attempting cr crf 250 or 450 i can take some pics if you want

I always thought the hot water from the head outlets went to the radiator inlets (at the top) and then worked
down the radiator and back to the water pump which the pushes it up through the cylinder / head to repeat
the cooling process. I've been eyeballing
my cooling hose set up as well and i'm going to use the 'Y' pieces and radiators that came on my crf450 09'
By the way your build looks super tidy as well. Thanks for the quick post on tose tranny gears.

That's what I had initially planned to do, but someone suggested the
custom hose idea and I thought how much easier that would be.
I could use stock radiators and all the stock hoses except the custom
return hose. I also believe this would be advantageous when replacing
crash damaged radiators from a cost and time perspective.

This conversion deals with a 2008 CRF250 frame.

Sounds like a plan. I think with the 250F, the single return hose will
take up less space since it looks a little tight in there. Probably a
similar situation for you.

Nobody is saying it's a bad idea so I guess it will work. Now I need to
come up with a design to pass on to the company making the hose.
