Post by gregrobo »

has anyone on here ever fitted a set of Goldie's to their forks and shock it doesn't look to hard just waiting for our parts to arrive to get started
http://www.racetech.com/
ordered the valves and hi volume bladder cap for the shock and a shock rebound separator valve the only thing that worries me is getting the valving right whats your thoughts.

Hey mate
i got the gold valves for the forks, yet to put them in for the same reason you mentioned. Try these guys
http://shocktreatment.com.au/index.html

Terry Hay works on alot of the top road and dirt guys suspension so i gave him a ring and he gave me some different combinations for the shim stacks depending on the style and type of riding you do. He didn't try and sell me something i didn't really need either unlike alot of other shops.

I recommend when you are ready to enter the "web key" to get into their proprietary software to enter you specifications that you do a bunch of different setups and save them as PDF's. Since you only have a limited amount of time.

As long as you take your time and follow the directions carefully you will be very happy!

There is ZERO magic in the valves themselves, its the access to the database of shim stacks that your paying for.

Yep, thats why all 3 of the bikes I have them in have a STACK of shim build sheets stuck in each bikes Service Manual...

BTW If you arnt happy with the valve stack you are running. Call RaceTech "Tech" department and tell them what the bike is doing wrong, what stack and springs are currently in it, and they will give you a "new" stack build instruction to try out...

How much do you weigh? If you are a "big boy" there wont be enough shims in the standard kit. If you tell them they will give you a free "expansion" pack...

Not sure what you mean by missing tables?

If the kit is for Honda (Showa) they give you a "check valve" kit to replace the mid valve. Its the main reason why Honda forks are so harsh so it is eliminated by most professionals. None of my Hondas with Race Tech have mid valves, so Im betting you are fine. Let me know what they say. At 220 pounds you should be fine with the shims in the kit without needing the "big boy expansion"...

long story short i entered the wrong shock valve in the data base and got the wrong shimming 5 min on the phone with terry at shock treatment and he set me straight got the shock reassembled tonite and back in the bike hopefully get time to do the forks tommorrow i am valving it for enduro soft if i dont like it ill change it to enduro standard the info sheet also recommends a lighter spring but i am going to leave the springs standard for now

gold valves are the single best thing i have done besides doing the 500 convertion a few more rides to dial it in better and all will be good i set it up for enduro pro soft and 110kg but i dont have the cash at the moment to put the recommended spring weight in it which is lighter 5.66 standard to 4.66 it seems wrong but anyway

Sweet dude, glad you like them. No intelligent biker will argue that suspension is the most important upgrade and will make you faster than engine upgrades...
