Even with insurance I'm over 4K on my broken ankle deal.

$6K operating room services, general???????????????
$1750 recovery room general???????(no happy ending)

I went in at 7am, at 8:30 I was sleeping, I woke up at 10 and at 10:30 I was on my way home.
Surgery was 40 mins
Doctor bill $2.5K.

Only illegal aliens have free medical,everyone else, expecially if you have insurance,your credit card is on file.

The doc did the job at the rate of $5k per hour but what is the other 6k for?

And yes, although "they" are no longer the minority. I see it happen all the time and its really infuriating. No english, no insurance, no money - it's ok. The US Citizen will pay. The gov't really needs to end this shit.

yeah its bullshit. all those "nonprofit" hospitals you see, pay attention. they are ALWAYS building and expanding to kill off that money......the doctor does NOT get all that damn money you pay......

All insurance sucks ass! I had to pay $2,000 for ER when my oldest boy broke his leg, 1,000 when he split his chin open(dang wife wasn't going for butterfly's and super glue) and had the privilage of paying $5,700 to get my jaw wired shut. Had to go out of network because aetna does'nt have anyone within 60 miles that will do it. The ER would have been cheaper but they wanted it to heal first then go back and rebreak it then wire it shut. Our health care in this country is really fugged up.

they tried to get me for 35k on Jonny's birth HPN (united) conveniently forgot to mention that my policy did not include maternity coverage...
I got it taken care of, but if I were illegal, it would have been free from the start and they would have even given me diapers and formula on my way out

yeah....things need to change. just not the way they are trying to change them. bunch of idiots. im all for paying the doctors well and paying for the clean environment. but my dad got hit in the head a while back, a few scans and stitches later, they got 35 grand for it, and they DIDNT do the spinal tap or whatever like they wanted to. thats FUGGED UP.

Can't blame it all on the usual suspects like ins co's hospitals and doctors.
All the freebie shit has to be paid by somebody, that's you and me.
I worked in the IT dept's of a couple of hospitals and their budgets always included the "indigent" factor.
Also, as a "not for profit", they always have to get rid of excess cash while still begging the government for more.

Yeah, this is a free country but that doesn't mean everything is free damnit.
The illegals and the so called "poor" have buggered the free market via politicians.
By the way, "poor" is a mindset. Ask any salesman.
